Fun Times After Uni.....

Even though university has finished and everyone has gone their separate ways, the last couple months here have been great.
The weather has been awesome (although way too hot at times) and I have really enjoyed being able to visit my Aussie friends in their hometowns.

My parents in Australia

I was so excited that my parents were able to come visit me when I finished uni in November.  I got to show them around, they were able to meet my friends and we did a little bit of traveling together too!
(Jeff, Charlotte, Ryan, Emma, Katrine, Dad, Mom, Vanessa, myself and Kerrie)

Waterskiing in Grabine

Row was nice enough to invite us down to her family's summer place and we had a great couple of days of waterskiing.  I have never water-skied before, so I stuck to tubing, much easier for me!

Christmas 2004

I was lucky enough to have my own Australian family when I was in the land down unda'.  I met Katrine at uni and her family was really fantastic to me!  They made me feel like a part of their family and gave me the chance to experience an Australian Christmas... by the pool!

Cricket: Australia vs. India

OK! I never thought I would be able to sit through 8 hours of anything, never mind a game I didn't understand.  But with the help of my cousin Steve (from Melbourne, Australia) I had a wicked time watching the cricket match!

After about 4 hours, it was more entertaining to watch all the drunken people beside us cheering and arguing with each other!!!
(Melbourne, Australia)

Yummy!!!

After visiting Melbourne, I traveled up through the central part of Australia and up to Darwin.

When I was in Alice Springs, we were taken on a tour of an aboriginal camp.  They showed us the food the aboriginal people used to eat and asked any of us if we wanted to try it.
Of course, since I always thought I would be a good survivor, I volunteered.......

Mmmmmmm...maybe not

Yeah... kind of tasted like rotten peanut butter, and it exploded when I bit into it.  But it wasn't as bad as I thought and I was the only girl to try it!

Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)

Although Uluru (Ayers rock) is a must see in the outback, I thought Kata Tjuta (which means many heads) was much more impressive.  It was awesome to see these enormous rocks in the middle of nowhere!

From the top!

I met Rob and Angela on my trip through central/northern Australia and we had a blast climbing Ayers rock.  It was a tough climb but the view from the top was incredible!  If you squint, you can see Kata Tjuta in the background!

Devils Marbles

These huge round red coloured boulders were definitely a sight to see.  There were so many of them, and many of them perfectly round.  The aboriginal people say that they are fossilized eggs of the Rainbow Serpent.

This one was naturally split by the hot and cold weather of the desert.

Kangaroo!

I never thought I would be able to eat cute little kangaroos, but man do they taste good!!!  The meat is really lean and it's a popular meal in the outback!

~Koalas spend 20 hrs a day sleeping and 4 hrs eating, not bad eh?~
